Kaitlyn, Lindsay and I are "burnin' up" for these awesome t-shirts! They are shirts made by JDRF and they have Nick Jonas (who has J.D.) on the front and they say "Team Jonas". Linds and I got them for helping our fabulous friend Sandy with a Juvenille Diabetes Research Foundation rally. She is on the JDRF board as the school rally coordinator. Often times, she is in dire need of helpers for these AWESOME rallies and their resulting walks, so I always try to help out when I can. They hold these rallies to raise money for the JDRF and to spread awareness/help prevent juvenille diabetes. What they do is hold a 30-ish minute rally at the school, explaining what the disease is, how it can be prevented, and what they can do to help (sell these nifty little sneakers). A portion of the money they earn goes directly back to their school, and they are also awarded littletoys ad prizes based on how much money they raise. We then come back about two weeks later and have various exercise stations around the school's track while the students walk around the track, stopping at each "station" to do exercises with the volunteers. I've done wall sits (more like friend sits), jumping jacks, toe touches, running in place, even a little yoga! And of course DANCING! It's such a good cause. The people I have met at rallies that share their stories and struggles are really inspiring. And it is so fun to be able to interact with these kids and try to get them pumped up.
