So on Saturday night, Kellie, Linds, Clint, and I decided to make our way over to the local IHOP for some delicious brinner. We decided to meet at my casita and carpool (in Crazy Dogggz, the little Daewoo that could) from there. Clint texted to let us know he would be a little late, so I decided to use the extra time to finalize some details for the upcoming YSA fireside. I had left a couple of messages and was moving on to the next phone call, when, ALAS! An answer! I asked for the representative I needed to speak with, but his mother informed me that he had stepped out and asked if she could take a message. I told her why I was calling and asked her if she would have him return my phone call. I then gave her my name. The rest was a disaster.
"Oh! Hey Brit! How are you doing??"
"Uhm, hi. Yeah, I'm er-doing well? And you?"
"Just great! What are you up to these days?..."
The conversation continued as I scrambled to figure out what I was missing. The only connection I could pinpoint was that we were in the same art class about 2 1/2 years ago, but we had only spoken a couple of times. And since the class, we will occasionally say hello to one another, but I seldom see her.
We spoke for maybe 5 minutes. During that time, she told me that she'd been trying to get a hold of my mother and asked me to give her their new blog address. I wrote it down and gave her the more specific reason for my phone call, and she told me she'd relay the message, as I wondered how on earth she knew my mother. We got off of the phone and it clicked! She thought I was Brittany Clement! I figured they must have known each other from several years back when they were in the same ward, and it was funny-ish, but I did feel really bad. I told Kellie the situation and decided to just call Britt and relay the conversation to her so that it would be just like they really did speak that night. Then Kellie informed me that the woman I spoke with is actually Brittany's aunt, which made me feel even more stupid! But no worries. The next morning, I gave Anita the blog address as I was told, and told Anita to give her sister a ring. I did feel pretty silly, but we all had a good laugh. The Brittany Clement/Britney Clemmons curse strikes again! I do absolutely love Brittany, which makes the confusion not so bad after all. And not too many folks can say that they have almost the same name as one of their good friends, now can they?
But the pancakes were delicious, by the way.
You know, this is a pretty funny story. So glad it didn't happen to me :)
ReplyDeleteMmm, pancakes.
ReplyDeleteIt took me forever to figure out which of you Brit's had the "T". I had to keep asking Erin "wait, which one is which?" She knew.
I learned, though! You're the one with the T... just kidding.
Thank you so much for inviting me to GNO yesterday. I really enjoyed it. I totally totally totally love your blog! It is sooooo cool!
ReplyDeleteTake care and keep in touch :0)
Love,
Ilcy
