Summer time and the livin's easy.

Can you believe that 2010 is halfway over? Now, there's no need to get nostalgic. Instead, here are some things that are currently making me quite happy.
  • When we were little, Lindsay and I loved going swimming at our aunt and uncle's. I always wished we had a swimming pool. It was a happy day the day we found out we were getting a real pool. My family has had a beautiful built-in pool for probably almost ten years by now and every single year I am extremely disappointed in the amount of swimming I do. I mean, Summer is for living, and the living in Bakersfield is freakin' hot so why shouldn't I be soakin' it up by the pool? Well, this summer I have made it a personal goal to be satisfied with the amount of swimming I do. Afterall, "Moisture is the essence of wetness, and wetness is the essence of beauty", right? So far so good!
  • I ate my very first Wasco Strawberry Stand strawberry about a month ago. The people of Wasco (that I know) rave about them and I would say get a little prideful even. As I took a bite, I was surrounded by Wasconians and utterly outnumbered, so I was clearly prepared to pick a fight since I knew that a strawberry is just a strawberry. But no. That is NOT true. They are the most delicious strawberries I've ever tasted! So we bought a huge flat, froze them, and have been using them to make delicious refreshing smoothies ever since.
  • As pathetic and hopeless as it may sound, I have been praying for the motivation to do well in school for the last few weeks. Summer school started last week, and even on the Sunday evening before school was to start, I wasn't feeling bummed out about it. I ALWAYS feel bummed out on Sundays--sometimes even on Saturdays because I think, "Man, only 2 days of freedom until I have to go back to school...". But yeah, I'm doing a pretty good job of staying on top of my class work this semester and feeling pretty motivated to stay motivated at least until we get the crap out of Bakersfield College. Today I got my first exam back and current grade in Psychology. I'm not gonna lie, but I felt pretty good when I found out that I have a 96% and the person sitting next to me (who is WAY more intelligent than I am and could cream me at any number of intellectual competitions) only has a 90%.
  • The past few months, we've spent a lot of time with Ty and Nina. I love that we're all such ridiculous people, but we all consider each other completely hilarious. I love our relationship with them. It's so crazy to think that Karina and I will soon be related. I mean, we didn't even know each other before I met David, and we had no choice in the matter really, but I really am so happy to have her as a sister (almost). I love that David has such a great relationship with his lil bro [who only 7 YRS old]. I just love our family. That's all there is to it.
  • At a restaurant this weekend, I saw this amazing white cardigan with purple flowers all over it. No, I don't have one like that, but I think it was awfully cute. Also, I'm glad that I'm not the only fool that loves cardigans enough to still wear them when it's 95 degrees outside.
