...The greatest [band] that ever lived!

With the election said and done, I have realized that I never was able to share my most remarkable experience of the Weezer concert from October 14th!

Lindsay and I left on Monday to Inglewood, CA to ensure our spot at the front of the line. We had GA tickets, so on the floor it's pretty much a first come first serve basis. The closest hotel I was able to find online was this "Hollywood Park Motel" about 0.5 miles away from The Forum. I was planning on leaving my car there and just walking, but once we pulled into the "parking lot", my mind was changed. If you would have told me I was staying in a motel on South Union, I would never even question you. This motel was hooker status. But, Linds and I are retarded and decided to stay anyway. The room was small, and dirty, and we decided to sleep on top of the blankets. There was straight up a mirror on the ceiling above the bed. Ew. We had dinner at the Cheesecake Factory, where we shared many laughs, and then went back to prostitute central to sleep.

On Tuesday, we woke up at a little before 5am and were in line by 6am. It was oh, so cold. I had the best of intentions to do homework and be productive, but I freaking left my backpack at home! SO we found other ways to entertain ourselves. Lindsay and I discovered how gassy those energy drinks can make a person, and we met a very interesting girl from Croatia. During the course of the day we learned that she wants a pet raccoon, she's been carrying a mini-liquor bottle around to drink when she gets to meet Tom Delonge, and she will most probably die from lung cancer within the decade. Enough about the Croatian... We were in line right in front of Luis, the guy I met at the Foozer conce
rt in SD in 2005! It was good fun catching up with him. If you guys think I'M hardcore, you should meet him...

Monica and Clint joined us in line at around 3pm after they were able to get off of work. The anxiety set in, we learned some fun new words (courtesy of Clint, as usual), and got ready to boogie!! At 6:30pm the doors opened. We were up front and center next to the barricade. The Relationshop opened (they were sooo good!), followed by Tokyo Police Club, who is an awesome band that you should check out (the guy on keyboards looked like he had just snorted a giant pixie stix and beer bonged a few Monster BFCs. It was kind of amazing.), and then Angels and Airwaves. The crowd was very physical. We were all pretty violated by the amount of emo kids surging towards the front. I could lift my feet and float in place. It was pretty sick. But after about 40 minutes of severe bleeding of the ears and mind scarring molestation, WEEZER came out! There was a couple of minutes of contradictory feelings in my heart... Rivers came out with a ski mask, which triggered a great deal of fear (let's just say The Strangers ruined my life). Not cool. But it quickly came off after "My Name is Jonas" and there were mostly only happy feelings for the remainder of the night. I decided not to take my camera in so I could just focus on enjoying the concert. And my phone had no reception so I couldn't call anyone (I'm sorry guys!). But it was nice not having to worry about it. Plus, when "Greatest Man" came on, I wanted to record a bit on my phone. But getting the phone out of my pocket was all but impossible. Stupid emo kids...

It was an absolutely amazing concert! They played "Pink Triangle", "El Scorcho", and "Greatest Man" (it made my LIFE). The guys were so fun and they even had an on stage hootenanny. This concert blew my mind! I hope that you all can one day experience as much joy and excitement as I did that night.

  2. I am moderately jealous. But it sounds like a good time, despite the emo's and the brothel-turned-hotel-room. =W=
