So this week marked the start of the 2007 Kern County fair! "Rockin around the Clock" is the theme...not really sure how it relates, though I prefer "Steers and Queers", and drunk ones at that. Well, any how, I haven't been to the fair in years and I realized that I've never really found out what the fair is all about. So Darlene and I have decided to go. We had planned on going last night, but it was rainy, and I didn't feel like walking around in the mud and smelling the wet animals, then smelling like an animal myself after the exposure, so we decided to do something else.
I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but I am an amazing Foosball champion. People come from far and wide to watch me get down. There's a foosball table at the institute building, and Darlene, me and our friends play on teams after institute and at the different activities held there. It's so much fun. Sadly, that's really as athletic as I get. And I lied, I really suck at it. Well, whatever, it's still a lot of fun. At institute on Wednesday, Darlene, Spencer, Nicole, and I played a few games, switching off people for different combinations and teams. We decided that the losing team had to stand up and sing in front of all of the people at institute (this is after class, mind you, so there's only about 15 or so people there). Well, Darlene and I were on a team, and we pretty much dominated for a while. We were feeling pretty confident after butchering Spencer and Nicole, so we played one last game for total victory. Well, we lost. So we grabbed our stuff and took off. We were about to turn onto Christmas Tree Ln and complete our escape, but we decided we have this little thing called INTEGRITY so we turned back. We sang "Popcorn Popping on the Apricot Tree" and then left for reals. But come Wedesday, those fools better bring it, cause we're back and better than ever!
K, now back to where I was going with all of this... Last night, we decided to swing by the institute to see if anyone was there so we could play pool and foosball and just hang for a bit. Our friend Santos was there alone (his study group had just left), so he let us in while he studied a while longer. We found out that he has been accepted to BYU Hawaii and Provo (Congrats!!), and he's not sure which he'll attend, but he'll be leaving in January. Well, he started trying to convince us to apply, so I explained my situation to him: I slacked off my freshman year in high school, but redeemed myself by working hard and accumulating a 3.76 GPA for my overall high school GPA, was accepted to BYUs Idaho and Provo, decided to attend BYU Provo in January of 2006, came home 2 days later, attended Bakersfield College in the Fall of 2006, and pretty much screwed up my college transcript for the time being. The education/career aspect of my life could be summed up in a few numbers... three units, five "F"s, nine part time jobs, and nearly twenty years of earthly existance. I've been working on a book entitled "Success for Dummies", which is expected to be released sometime next year ;) . Yes, I'm almost twenty years old, I should be nearly done with a Bachelor's degree, and yes, I will be about twenty seven by the time I actually get one. No, I'm not sure what my major will be, or my career, or salary. I drive a Daewoo when I'm not in the company car. Yes I want to get married, but no Brooke, I won't be married by Christmas, so put your fasting and prayers towards a more worthy cause.
I know that where I'm at right at this moment, is the best place for me to be to prepare for the next moment. I have faith that I'm where Heavenly Father wants me to be. I know the most amazing people! I couldn't even begin to name all of them! From members of my extended family to members of my ward family, and a few in between. And they are my friends! They like me for me, despite all of my odd quirks. My family is amazing! I look forward to spending time with my grandparents and I talk to my grandma all the time. She's my friend. Both of my grandmas are my friends. I love them. And I am proud to say that Mom and Dad, you are my best friends! I don't know what I would do if I couldn't get your advice on even the silliest opinions I ask of you, but I do listen to your counsel and advice, and even though I sometimes pretend I'm the coolest person in the world, you two are definitely very cool probably because you're MY parents...haha.
No, I don't know exactly where this road is leading me, but I know I'm on the right one, and that's all I need to know. There is nothing I know better, stronger, or with any more conviction than my testimony that Jesus Christ is my Savior, I am a child of God, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the only church that has the fullness of the gospel of Christ and the authority to proclaim that truth!, and every other knowledge of it's truthfullness that envelopes knowing it's true. I am peculiar, but I'm proud to be different than the rest of the world. No, I don't know exactly where I'll be in twenty, ten, or even five years, but I guess if you want to know, you should stick around to find out. That's what I'm doing.

BTW, I love reading your blog. I think you should go into some type of writing career because you are GREAT with words. Seriously!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love you even if you aren't where people think you should be...you should only be where you want to be...that is all that matters! Do what makes you happy!!!!
